Great 4.0
This film is a perfect tribute to Clint, and it represents the best in what all of us love about Clint’s movies. What could have become a parody because of his age and sometimes perceived lack of applicability in today’s world instead shows that the fundamentals still apply. The macho roughneck guy with a pure heart still wins. After a bit slow of a start, I found myself engrossed and thoroughly enjoying the action, humor, and of course the posturing. The movie keeps you on your toes all the way to a rousing finish.

Very Good 3.5
Clint was Clint. ’nuff said. As for the supporting cast, nothing special. I did feel the chemistry was good with the young Ahney Her (“Sue”).

Really Great 4.5
I was impressed with how Clint’s legacy blended well in a film that brought even more modern issues and acting in to the storyline. Not everyone could have pulled that off.

Topic: Movies / Gran Torino Yeah, it really was a triumph considering it was ol’ Clint’s last movie as an actor. |
